The last Week of July

This week I found a couple of things . I love these  large old  wooden reels from Scotland

A few months ago I posted about the sweet silver casket I found which was lined in eau de nil silk and this week I found another piece from the same estate which I missed last time

We put up the pictures in the newly painted dining room

and Mr VL bought home a present for me from work

In the garden this week we are still gearing up for Spring
2 Magnolia trees were planted in the front lawn

And at last my dream to have  "Madame Gregoire Staechelin"roses clambering over a house is going to happen,we planted 2 on the bare side wall

How gorgeous does this one look!

We also planted a "Mary Rose" down by the fruit trees which is a large bush and needs lots of
space

The ground is so wet the girls who love "dusting " themselves were desperate to find any dry patch of ground and were huddled in a corner....too cute!

What I'm reading from the library this week

Gorgeous book!

No cats allowed on the beds......Sascha didn't get the memo

  1. Your dining room is stunning with the new paint and your pictures hanging up.
Our girls love to dust bath and tend to have a favourite spot for a few weeks then find a new one. Our chooks also like bathing in diatomaceous earth which keeps the mites away and when they eat it can help with controlling worms. I've purchased a couple of lots from Fossil Power- http://www.fossilpower.com.au/

  2. I am so loving those spools friend! They are fantastic as are your new prints in the dining room!!! They are perfect in there! And ahhh what I would do for magnolia trees! I can't wait to see them bloom...and that goes for the roses too!! They are going to be stunning climbing that brick! I need to find a place for some climbing roses! A wonderful weekend to you! 6. I love seeing all your new finds Meg!
The chooks are so cute and I agree Madame Gregoire Staechelin is such a wonderful old rose!
Sacha is quite nonchalant - maybe he got the memo, but you know cats, they have their own house rules!
    A lovely post

  10. Hi Meg,

Lovely to discover your beautiful blog - you have a gorgeous home and garden.
The Mary Rose is lovely - I had one growing but sadly after about 5 years did not do well. Sacha and the chickens are sweet.
    Happy Sunday

  16. I would love to have some chickens. I didn't have a good experience the last time though. I would like some fancy ones as pets. Love your decorating.
