A Fair Find

Yesterday we went for a country towns jaunt and started off at a vintage/antique fair. I bought this 1950's fabric covered hatbox and a few antique bottles which I'll take pics of next week

Love the ruched lid

I have one of those once in a decade birthday's in a few days ( it has a zero in it) and I went shopping in my favourite shop in the Adelaide Hills and bought this mirror for my bedroom
as it was half price. Thanks Mum! ( I took the pic in the shop)

As Spring gets warmer my view from the backyard is slowly changing~ the green hills are changing to a gold colour..

...and the fruit is growing and flowers opening

The garden is full of parrots, kookaburras, wrens, finches, magpies.....much to the frustration of my darling indoor cat, who can only window shop!

Hello breakfast !!

Glass and Garden

I scored a freebie this week ...a mercury glass jar with sweet leaf etching as well as an op shop milk glass comport....both to sit on my bedroom table. I try and keep my inner Rachel Ashwell yearnings to my bedroom where I let loose. It's a little harder in this new bedroom as it's half the size of the last house.

We have done a lot of planting this week including 3 new Hornbeam trees to screen the front yard a bit more

with warmer days the early morning light is soft and misty and at last the Golden Elm is leafing up

The roses are very slow and we don't know their names but I think I have scored a David Austin rose as well as dozens of white bush roses

We potted up blue Hydrangeas, "Pink Domino"Iris , "Pink Chiffon" petunias and herbs

What I'm reading from the Library this week

This Week's Finds

It's been a gorgeous spring week....we did a few country own trips this weekend and found a few bibs and bobs

My favourite English magazine which is very expensive in Australia ....a pile for a couple of dollars

A few more very old bottles (I probably should stop now)

My Ebay find arrived in the mail from the US...it was very cheap, even with postage, a vintage croquet set as we have such a large lawn we thought it might be fun

Our chicks graduated this weekend from their brooder box to a larger pen and in another couple of weeks they will be moved to their own palace

We have planted tomatoes, chillies, beans, baby carrots, rhubarb and pruned back the espaliered fruit trees

A rainbow at the bottom of the garden

Misty dawn

I have been really lucky with my orchid this year... this one has survived since March, including a house move and flowered again

zzzzzzzzzzz

Last Weeks Finds

We spent all of Friday shopping in the city and my better half patiently drove around to my favourite op shops . I found some very pretty table cloths , and a  water bottle.

I picked up this gorgeous old jar in a vintage market

We spent the rest of the weekend in the garden, so we popped into Mr VL 's nursery to pick up plants and I snuck into the giftware and brought a pretty bottle home

We weeded ,  mowed, trimmed miles of box hedge, planted tons of plants.

so much more still to do !!

Inside the house I finally have a walk in robe ...YAYY!!

The very first iris to open
