Dreaming of a White (and silver) Christmas

I have been searching  and gathering from OpShops for all things white for Christmas
Some of my finds so far........

Lots of votives for a few dollars
A set of 8 appetiser spoons . Each one will have a seared scallop wrapped in parma ham
I'm hoping my garden will keep on producing gorgeous white gardenias and impatiens
for the Christmas table
Saturday afternoon was spent installing solar fairy lights in the garden, harvesting fresh garlic (for tonight's curry)and rhubarb(for tonight's crumble)

and finally today...a cuppa with the new Australian Country Style mag Collector's Edition ...it's divine ....all white Xmas tables......

Hi I'm Sascha and this is my mugshot
I have been a very very bad cat. Mum put up a huge artificial fir tree which I found delicious.
BUSTED when  she caught me with needles stuck in my teeth and she had to take it down and put it away.
Mum is not impressed

Fetes, Fleas and Flowers

We set out Friday afternoon to do a fossick in the local flea/junk shop and I spied this old book sitting on a table on the way out. It wasn't ther when I came through and had been just unloaded from a container from Denmark(!!) for $10 . It's in terrible shape, covers are separated from the bbok, spine cover missing, some pages are missing BUT it is GORGEOUS

It's solid brown leather with a metal rim. The front and back are  in maching tooled gold

Beautiful steel engraved illustrations with tissue paper covering pages

Faded gilt pages
It was published in about 1880, Mr VL thinks I'm crazy but I just couldn't leave it there could I?
We ventured off early Saturday morning to a church fete and I found a pair of very old linen pillowcases, beatifully handmade with fillet edging for the princely total of $2...athough they are yellow with age and have already been soaked and are drying in the Sunday morning sunshine on a dewy lawn
To add to my now 50 pairs of antique white pillocase collection!
On the way home at the fuit and veg market I treated myself to
a bunch peonies...my favourite

Mr VL spent Saturday afternoon clipping the topiary and box hedging. I use 2 of the potted box trees for Christmas

After

My cute Sascha decided to destroy the catmint arrangement I had picked....WHO ME??

Thrifts,Gifts and Gardening

I love the old Royal Doulton Madras 1900  plate I found, even though it's cracked from obviously a long time ago,to add to my Blue and White collection

A Salvos find for $2.99 ..... 2 heavy ironstone basins-smaller the a basin but bigger than a bowl

I filled the vase I bought  in last week's post to put on my bathroom windowsill

Mr VL gave me a De Longhi CitiZ Nespresso for my birthday  and I can highly recommend it.....the coffee is divine and it's so easy

A dear friend gifted me one another one of her handmade journals which she makes out of old book covers, using the spines as book marks. I have started a little collection of them

My Spring Garden is still looking gorgeous and I'm picking flowers while they last before the hot weather sets in...Gardenias,Hellebores,Star Jasmine
