A Surprise Gift

I got a lovely surprise in the mail from interstate during the week......a  few bits and pieces from my stepmother who is cleaning out drawers since the passing of my Dad at Christmas

Some gorgeous 1950's earrings, necklace, brooch and sweet marcasite watch worn by my glamorous Aunt

How cute is this crystal shoe

Older pieces including part of an old pocket watch

Engraved on the back

All lovely editions to my small collection of costume jewellery

Also in the package was a pair of vintage ballet slippers

I bought an old painted hat stand a few weeks ago and repainted and rubbed it back

The gum tree is shedding it's bark and the golden elm tree still holding on to it's leaves

Dozens of bush roses pruned

Smoke in the distance from the orchard over the back fence

Winter sunlight

plum tuckered out

  1. Wonderful jewelry and I am happy that your lovely step-mother passed it on to you. I still love your photos of the views of your property and surroundings. Look forward to some winter shots. Or does it ever get really cold there? Linda@Wetcreek Blog

  5. I got all weak in the knees when I saw all these pretty pretty things. Why do newer things not get me all goofy like the older stuff? Must be the history. It is looking quite serene at your home. XXOO

  6. 1950s jewellery is so evocative and feminine. I was born in the late 50s, so it reminds me of my Mum.
Such a thoughtful and sensitive present.
