5 Weeks and Counting

Only 5 weeks to go before we move to our rural retreat and the packing is a pain at the moment .I have started with china and crystal...more on that next week
I probably shouldn't be snooping around op shops but...I did visit the Salvo's and the Animal Welfare during the week
An ironstone tureen for my collection for $3
A little aqua tinted industrial style vase for $1

My find of the week was a Carter's Antique Price Guide fro 1986. I have never seen one in an op shop before , only collectable bookstores as they appreciate in value.
I saw this for $3.99 and is worth about $150-170

We were driving around yesterday and saw a gorgeous home ware/gift shop with 70% off . There were heaps of people squeezed in grabbing stuff and Mr VL grabbed 2 items ...a lovely tall carved candlestick and a cute tea light holder. I would have loved 2 of the candlesticks

One hour after this "butter wouldn't melt in my mouth" pic Sascha stole a bunch of grapes out of the fruit bowl and rolled them all around the family room ARGGHHH

  1. Oh...I love your candlesticks!!! And your tureen is lovely! 3 dollars??? Is that possible!!??! I wish you all the best in packing! How very exciting! I can not wait to see more of your beautiful new home!!

  2. Great finds yet again Meg.
Cheeky Sascha, lucky she's so cute. x

  3. Oh, a girl after my own heart...supposed to pack and looking for more treasures. Were we separated at birth? That sounds just like something I would do. Happy packing, I'm cleaning since my daughter is coming for a visit and my house looks like a thrift store and she does not share my love of "stuff".
Sasha is very clever, stealing grapes to use as toys is a new one and I won't let my crew read your post. She's very pretty, is she a Russian Blue?

    1. Hi Suzie....yes Sascha is a pedigree Russian Blue...and he separated the grapes individually and rolled them in different directions ....grrrrr

  4. You did very well on your various stops. That is a prize find on the book.Glad you were informed enough to know what a find it was.

  5. Wow, you did great on the tureen, and the book! That's funny about the cat, so innocent looking, huh? Take care - Dawn

  6. Found your lovely site through the linky party and Ivy and Elephants. The first thing I noticed is that I have the same linen pattern shown in your banner photo. (the White linen tablecloth or napkin with the tied ribbon) I found it at a vintage shop and just love it. It will be a treat to roam around your site. New follower. Please feel free to join me too!

  7. Hi Linda and welcome......linen is my main passion

  8. I am downsizing and I still go to thrift shops! Fun! You did find some great items. I love your ironstone tureens! Your cat is gorgeous and most of them I think! I have a almost 14 yr old rascal myself. Thanks for joining TTF this week.

  9. I just moved so I understand the pain of buying stuff you probably shouldn't LOL I love everything you bought though - that tureen looks perfect

I love to hear from you and appreciate your messages. Meg xx
