A Classic Saturday Find

We were up early this morning  to haunt a book sale at a local church that I picked up great old books last time and it didn't disappoint ..... I love this old  classic book and a bargain at $5. I wonder what happened to Emma






The  first King Penguin book arrived in the post, for  my new collection. There are 79 gorgeous collectable editions in the series to find and they all have wonderful covers from the 1940s  to 1950s. This one is number 30. I fell in love with them after seeing a story in BBC Homes &Antiques magazine last year all displayed together

I opened a Christmas gift yesterday for the first time... a gorgeous quilt roll on winter!
We are battling to keep our vegetable garden alive in the above century heat

    Little Women is one of my favourite books, the one you've found is amazing! Hope your veggie patch makes it through this awful weather.

    A little research for Emma. Born Emma Berta Fiedler 10th April 1887 at Schomburg Robertstown around Kapunda. Parents were William and Mary Fiedler nee Darletz. She married Kenneth Murray Buttrose on Dec 10 1910 at Point Pass and registered at Kapunda. She died Feb 14 1952 in South Australia. Kenneth died May 4 1950. If you want any more info it is available. Let me know, Helen

    both those books are lovely!....1899! don't get me started re the heat....its 9.30pm and still 30 degrees here at the moment...off to the river/pool/beach tomorrow....I know im a spoilt brat!!

    Hello, Meg. I'm so happy to have found you through Ivy and Elephants. I can always tell a book by it's cover! That is how I choose my books to read. I have an older edition of Little Women, that was given to me as a gift when I was 8 years old. The cover is not as pretty as yours and it's not as old!!Almost, but not quite. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your posts. I would love you to visit the Cottage when you have the chance..Happy Thursday..Judy
