What gorgeous weather we have had in the hills for our first spring here, and full of surprises as roses and trees open that are new to us.
I have had a mission for the coming weeks to find vintage glass Christmas baubles and my first find is some mid century mercury glass which were made in Russia
Remember the mirror that was a present from my Mum . It was hard to see in the pic I took in the shop, but it was a very pale French gray. I love the colour but after living with it for a few weeks I decided to repaint it white
Before in pale gray

( Yes I'm embarrassed to say that is a big screen TV on the wall )
All our roses have opened included masses of white bush roses, tiny pink roses on the fences and the golden elm in it's full glory
(the new chicken run in the left corner, and veg garden with bird netting
The conifer next to the flag pole is coming out shortly ~ a huge job
A standard "Seafoam" in the driveway
We bought home lots of David Austin roes to plant including my favourites "Sharifa Asma" and "Heritage" ...the fragrance is out of this world. Also some huge heavy enormous pots to withstand the winds we got in September
Love this 2013 book I found at the library

Hello Meg, I am a recent follower of your blog and am enjoying your journey and the forays into the garden, house and vintage world. I am very jealous of many of your finds, clearly you have better shopping than I have discovered in Bendigo. I have some family in Adelaide and get over there every now and then. Would you share a list of suggestions for where to begin my own little hunt? My brother has property at Walker Flat, Mt Mary and Fairview Park so I do get around a little. My younger son will also play Beach Volleyball in Glenelg this summer.
ReplyDeleteI would also love to say that your decorating is superb and I am in complete lust with the blue and white bowl on the dresser. So much so that I did not at first understand the TV comment as my eyes moved no further.
Hi Jenni, it's lovely to meet you. I am missing being down in Adelaide since moving up to the Hills as I was in walking distance previously to amazing op shops. I love the Salvos on Magill Road at Kensington Pk, Animal Welfare on Reid Ave Tranmere, Salvos on Norwood Parade. I would visit these at least once a week!
DeleteIn the Hills...Hosanna's in Lobethal
Antique /Vintage ......Pedlar's on Magill Road Norwood is a must, Stathalbyn is another must (and there is an amazing little shop called Rummage), Antique shops in Birdwood and Mt Pleasant.
My all time fave decorating shop is Balhannah by Design ( that's it in the pic of the mirror)
and all the little shops along Magill Road Norwood
The gift store where my husband works Newman's Nursery at Tea Tree Gully (very close o Fairview) has lovely vintage inspired stuff too! xx
Oooh, thank you so much. Looks like I can have an expedition or three next visit. Thank you so very much for sharing. I have a feeling I will enjoy the Nursery very much as well.
DeleteIt must be lovely as the months pass in your new home seeing the garden change and discovering new plants.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't take long for a cardboard box to attract an inhabitant does it. x
Hi Sascha! You are a very cute cat. What a lovely world you live in! Every picture is gorgeous!
ReplyDeletethose pink roses!!!...meg they are so beautiful. and I think I like the mirror better white, I didn't notice the TV either...was too busy loving the chandy!. The luckiest chickens in SA....I think so x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous ornaments. You could never get sick of that view! x
ReplyDeleteStunning garden photos. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAnne xx
Hi Meg,
ReplyDeleteYou have a fantastic garden and the view is spectacular. It must be so nice to discover new plants and flowers as they appear. It's a good idea to paint your mirror white. I like it.
Christa
Those ornaments are beautiful! I'm not sure I've ever found a Russian ornament. Lots of Polish and German ones though. Great find!
ReplyDeleteYour garden is as usual looking marvelous! We had a conifer like yours that had to come out too. We waited until it rained for a bit (Colorado is VERY dry) and then we trimmed it down and had someone come in with a back hoe and pull the rest out. It's really a no fun project, but so worth it.
Good luck! I hope it doesn't fight you!
As aways just so very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe ornaments are gorgeous and your garden is delightful, so many roses and a breathtaking view.
ReplyDeleteHi Meg. Your home looks amazing and that view!!! It speaks for itself. Your garden is beautiful. It looks like you have a little piece of Heaven there..Happy Sunday..Judy

I love the way your mirror turned out. I love it in both gray and the white too! Don't feel embarrassed about the tv on your wall. I have a 42" tv on my bedroom wall. Doesn't really go with my whole shabby chic theme :-)
ReplyDelete~Erica
