The Time has Come....

We move to a country town in a few days and life will never be the same! I won't have internet access for a week ...I can't believe it takes that long to reconnect in this day and age....so this will be my last post for a couple of weeks.
I made my last visit yesterday to my 2 fave op shops, mainly to donate HEAPS of stuff and I found 2 fantastic finds and I did a little dance outside the shop!!

This gorgeous 50/60s  Airport white case  was only $5 and the inside is beautiful
I LOVE IT!!!!

I have started collecting milk glass and I found this lovely piece for only $3..it's always hard to find these days

I must say  the long suffering Mr VL is less than thrilled I bought these, when are finally packed up and living amongst stacks of towering boxes at the moment

I did manage to change the handles on the 1970's bedside tables told you about last week

A Wet and Thrifty Saturday

This weekend has been rain, hail, wind and freezing temperatures. We have just left what we need for the next 2 weeks unpacked and needed to go to the local dump with stuff we don't want to take to the new house. It was pouring rain , but  I could see the gleam of copper on a big pile of rubbish WHOO HOO...soooo I begged the council guy could I buy them ...AND he said "what tubs, I never saw them" I got them for nothing!!!!. They are early 1900's laundry boiling tubs ..perfect for storing wood or for growing herbs (Mr VL is very impressed as he doesn't think the guy was supposed to give them away!)

It was still pouring when we stopped at a garage sale out that way (poor things they had a table under a carport and looked freezing) and I found this old Art Deco trophy, which is something on my wishlist , for $10 It will look great next to my vintage globes in the bookshelves we are going to have built in. The trophy has a nice Bakelite base

I saw these 1970's bedside tables listed on Gumtree and we picked them up on Friday. I had intended to paint them white ...but I think I'll live with them a while as they have a nice rich creamy patina, and I have ordered some crystal knobs to replace the VERY 70's  handles

I'm having two old chairs recovered ( the upholsterer has had them for MONTHS) and he has finally finished the small carved Edwardian chair which had a yukky green material. I found this cream linen offcut for free so this chair was covered for only $50...the beautiful bedroom chair will now have to be delivered to our Hills House

Taking a Deep Breath....

The deadline is fast approaching so I'm trying not to get overwhelmed with boxing up. I'm still finishing my " girlie stuff"...my vintage globe collection was a nightmare to pack and I hope they stay intact.
Packed my collection of thrifted  vintage evening bags in the hatbox I posted a few weeks ago

All were found in charity shops over many years, my favourite being the hand beaded navy blue clutch made in France.

Today I'm emptying the last of the linen cupboard ( my special white collection already boxed)
I'm going to launder and press this amazing huge table cloth I found many years ago in an Anglican op shop. Its Madeira embroidery and would originally have cost a heap to buy new!
A few years later I found a set of 12 tablemats. It does take forever to iron!!

Tuesday was our Wedding Anniversary and what a nice break to have a great meal out !

Whats Doing this Week

This week's find was a lovely vintage white crochet cloth. It's very fine work and very large and a bargain at 3.99

WHAT WAS I THINKING !!!!!!    I'm trying to pack my huge line collection  from my ar

moire...I've filled 3 huge cartons and still going....

We are about 70% boxed up but the kitchen contents is going to be a huge job, and I'm starting to feel the stress.

Too many dinner sets I don't use...too many crystal bowls...

Mr VL bought a couple of presents for me from the  home ware sales to cheer me up
(Loving glass floats at the moment) He found this gorgeous verdigris covered candelabra all crusty and cobwebby

Checkout Sascha's expression watching us box up stuff!
