Friday's Thrift Finds

Life is chaos this morning with the white blitz moving into our family living areas(the old colour looks quite yellowish)

I'ts been 3 weeks and a lot to go...AND the painters have told us this morning they have decided NOT to paint all our brown cupboards...SO now we are scrambling to find a company that will

So........I escaped down to the Salvo's and found some nice finds

 A pair of vintage binoculars in leather case

A sweet demitasse JB Meakin cup and saucer for my blue and white collection

A sweet little brown and white mustard pot

When I got back the "boys" were having lunch

Saturday Thrift Find

Trip down to the Salvo's...a Johnson Bros  ironstone " Indian Tree" cup and saucer (hand engraved) for 4.99

2 main rooms of a slow and painful makeover of the entire house inside and out.

The interior is being blitzed with Dulux "Designer White"-skirting boards, doors, architraves,walls ceilings,cupboard doors . All the wood was dark brown and the walls beige.

New curtains,lights and benchtops completed before the painter started....and a shiny new black front door!

OHHHH....the smell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday Thrift Find

We had to wait to get into the house because the painters are only into room two of the big makeover so I dropped into the Salvos and found this tired, grotty table  for $10 which I'm going to give the distressed once over!

I found a few things at the Salvos this morning.....a Glomesh purse for my collection, a bit chippy on the frame , but only 4.99.....Country Road pale blue bath mat and an oatmeal coloured sheet, and Mr VL scored with a brand new Geoffrey Beene business shirt

I found 2 pieces on the net  for my office collection - a 1903 Gem postal scale

Mid Week Thrift Shopping

I snuck out, while I'm waiting for the plumber to arrive and finish the bathroom,

down to the Salvo's and found 2 sweet Official Peter Rabbit egg cups by Frederick Warne for 50c, and 2 Laura Ashley lamp shades in my favourite colour -duck egg blue-and they are brand new for 3.99 each....YAY...it ALMOST makes up for the loss of a whole set of Laura Ashley bedding to a woman 10 seconds ahead of me a few months ago(having trouble letting that loss go!)....wellll...almost makes up for it

The Chaos Begins...........

Today is day one of the makeover and trying to obliterate the appalling taste of the previous owners....revolting bottle green laminate....stains, brown wood everywhere...cupboards, doors,skirting boards, beige walls.(We have already replace light fittings,curtains and kitchen appliances which were revolting too)
Today the plumber pulled out bathroom and kitchen sinks in readiness for installation of granite benchtops, and pulled out a wall furnace.
Hopefully the painter starts Wednesday on repainting the outside and then the interior is being painted a dazzling white everywhere-  walls,cupboards, doors , skirting, architraves -YAY
